Paul Craw, Bohemian Hussite, was burned to death before St. Andrews in Scotland, the first martyr burned there. A brass ball was placed in his mouth so he couldn’t testify to the crowd. (1433)

Civil War in England began between Royalists and Parliament. (1642)

In Massachusetts, missionary John Eliot founded an Indian church at Martha’s Vineyard. (1670)

First female US newspaper editor was Ann Franklin in Newport, Rhode Island. (1762)
